Susan Martin is a principal in the firm of Martin & Bonnett in Phoenix, Arizona. She received her law degree from New York University School of Law. She is admitted to the bar in the states of New York and Arizona. Ms. Martin is also admitted to and has appeared before federal trial and appellate courts in the Second, Third, Sixth, Seventh, Eighth, Ninth and District of Columbia Circuits, the United States Tax Court and on brief in the United States Supreme Court in a wide variety of employment, labor, pension and employee benefits cases including complex employment and ERISA class action matters. She has litigated class action matters throughout her career and has been lead counsel in numerous successful class actions benefitting many thousands of employees and retirees.
Prior to moving to Phoenix, Ms. Martin was a partner in an employee/union-side labor law firm in Manhattan where she represented both professional and blue collar employees and was counsel to several multi-employer pension and welfare funds. The firm practices exclusively in the areas of employment, employee benefits and labor law.
In addition to serving as counsel for employees and retirees in litigation, she is an active labor lawyer representing unions in the public and private sectors. She is General Counsel for the International Conference of Symphony and Opera Musicians of the American Federation of Musicians and chief negotiator for the musicians of numerous symphony orchestras around the country.
Ms. Martin has lectured extensively on ERISA, and labor and employment law. She is the Union/Employee Co-Chair of the ABA Labor Section.s Employment Rights and Responsibilities Committee and, in addition to the Arizona State Bar Association, she is also a member of the Arizona Employment Lawyers Association and the Federal Bar Association.
